Admissions
General Admission Standards:
Island Christian Academy (ICA) is committed to building a strong Biblical, spiritual, moral, ethical, and academic foundation in students in preparation for any endeavor into which God may lead them. The school is committed to creating in students an awareness of their significance and value to God, thereby instilling in each student a desire for high standards and excellence in every aspect of life. Our policy on admissions attempts to reflect the philosophy of our school. We desire to enroll students who will exhibit the Biblical values of showing care and concern for others in our school community as well as a demonstration of enthusiasm for the learning process. Students seeking admission are evaluated on the basis of their report cards, references, admission questionnaires, interviews and our assessment of their potential to perform satisfactorily at ICA. Students entering grades 2-12 must provide copies of recent standardized test scores and a current report card with their application. Academic testing may be required following the interview. Students should be in good standing in their current school. Each applicant and their parent(s) are encouraged to visit our school prior to enrollment. The first six weeks is considered a trial period for all new students.
Kindergarten/First Grade Admission:
All students entering kindergarten will be interviewed and evaluated to ascertain their readiness for the kindergarten program. All students entering first grade must be six years of age on or before September 1 or have successfully completed a year of kindergarten.
