Educational ApproachClasses
Junior high students have a seven period day with a variety of teachers. The classes average about 14 students. P.E., Bible, and some elective classes are combined with the High school students.
Characteristics of Junior High Students and Teaching Methods
Students at this stage are excited about new things and need challenges. They are curious and want to know the “Why” behind the facts they are learning. These students love to argue and debate just about everything.
The junior high years are some of the most rewarding years for teachers as they try to shape and mold these ambitious minds. We start teaching the students logic and how to apply logic to all subjects. Debates and persuasive reports are central in our teaching methods. Visual materials such as time lines, charts, and maps are used to help students critically evaluate subject materials. They begin to write and present research papers. Guest speakers and field trips are also included.
