With just five weeks of school remaining, we are in full-swing planning for next year. One aspect of planning that I find wonderfully exhilarating is brainstorming with a group. This exercise requires us to look up from that head down, what’s-in-front-of-me–right –now posture and think about the possibility of where we could be with a bit of applied imagination.
In recent weeks I’ve been intentionally looking up and ahead. I’ve asked three different groups of both older students and teachers a question similar to this: “What can we do as a school in our unique location, with our specific size and make-up to take our school to the next level in engaging students in the joy of learning?”
With a plethora of young imaginations, the answers have been both humorous and inspiring. The rope swing from the back ledge of the gym to the stage will probably not materialize anytime soon, but plenty of attainable ideas have emerged.
Now it’s your turn! I’m hosting a parent connect this Friday at 9:00 am in the lunchroom, and would love to synergize with a few of you and see what other thoughts might surface. Bring your own coffee coffee or drink ours. I hope to see you there!
